It is widely and strictly used for the practice of this sport all over the world. Mikasa is the only brand to get it right and they have full monopoly over this sport when it comes to ball supply. The reason why it's waterproof is because it's played at the beach. It's also deflated to 6lbs at first and gradually increased to 8lbs as it gets worned. Better after a couple of months of usage.
